James joined Rollingsons in 2010 to head the Litigation & Dispute Resolution department. He qualified in 2002 and was previously a partner in a west end commercial practice.

James has a wealth of litigation experience, having acted for a wide range of clients in a variety of contentious work. He advises in all contractual and debt recovery matters, boardroom and partnership disputes, civil fraud and intellectual property. He also has considerable experience in insolvency litigation and asset recovery, having acted for insolvency practitioners, creditors and debtors.

Some of his notable recent cases are below:

• Acted for various individuals in disputed bank guarantees in excess of £1 million

• Defended a managing director in a claim of fraudulent misrepresentation and breach of warranty

• Acted for a national chain of retailers in an insolvency & jurisdictional dispute

• Defended directors in proceedings under section 236 Insolvency Act 1986

• Acted for a famous US entrepreneur in a fraud claim against an employee

• Represented beneficiaries in a professional negligence claim against solicitors

 • Acted for a minority shareholder in a section 459 Petition

• Defended a high profile art collector in a claim by an artist for breach of copyright

• Acted for a firm of stockbrokers in proceedings and enforcement actions against debtors

• Defended a property company in relation to a claim of trademark infringement and passing off

• Acted for a firm of genealogists in a breach of contract claim

• Advised landlords in claims for possession, unpaid rent & service charges
